How to make a perfect Whisky Smash

A Whisky Smash is a simple cocktail, so thankfully it’s easy to get right. The secret is fresh ingredients to maximise the drink’s light, citrus flavour. Make sure to shake for at least ten seconds so the mint, lemon and sugar infuse their flavours on the whisky.

TOP TIP

Mix up your drink with the best whisky smash variations from fresh berries to garden herbs.

What’s the best whisky for a Whisky Smash?

There’s no right answer when it comes to the best whisky for a Whisky Smash. The choice is up to the maker. With that said, you can’t beat the golden smoothness of a single malt scotch. Our personal favourite for a Whisky Smash is The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve which blends creamy sweetness with complex fruity tones.

What’s the difference between a Whisky Sour and a Whisky Smash?

A Whisky Sour and Whisky Smash have similar ingredients but the end result is noticeably different. The Sour is shaken with egg white or aquafaba for a creamy, foam top. Whereas the Smash is served over ice and garnished with mint for a slightly lighter serve.
