Juicy plums, ripe banana, raspberry jam, charred pineapple, creamy butterscotch, warm gingerbread, caramel wafer and nutmeg spice

Warming, spicy and slightly dry

In our first release – Chapter One: The Journey Inward – we’ve partnered with renowned artist Red Hong Yi, known as ‘The Artist Who Paints Without A Brush’, to design our limited edition packaging.

The Glenlivet Groundbreaker takes inspiration from Hong Yi’s artistic style and her alias ‘Red’ to influence our whisky: after maturation in European and American Oak, a portion of the whisky is selectively finished in double-charred American Oak and European Red Wine casks – a first for The Glenlivet. The journey taken by our Single Malt Whisky mirrors that of the Red’s own journey – one of inner and outer transformation.

A COLLABORATION WITH RED HONG YI

In Chapter One: The Journey Inward, artist Red Hong Yi has reflected upon unique travel experiences and how they can shape who we become. Red has been inspired by locations which have impacted her life, and have led her to her groundbreaking artist style of charring parchment to paint using traditional red Chinese pigments.
