Godfather cocktail variations
A classic Godfather cocktail is a simple mix of whisky and Amaretto. But if that isn’t quite up to scratch, or you feel like getting creative, then try your hand at one of these variations.
Swap Amaretto for cream to make a Godchild; a rich, dessert like twist. Try with The Glenlivet Caribbean Reserve for a hit of fruity sweetness that compliments the nutty almond liquour. Create a smoky Godfather cocktail by replacing 7.5ml of whisky with peated scotch.
Other variations include a Godmother (made with vodka) and The Boss (made with bourbon).

What is the best scotch for a Godfather cocktail?
There’s no hard rules when it comes to the best scotch for a Godfather. The choice is up to the drinker. With that said, we love a single malt scotch for a slightly honeyed smokiness. We use The Glenlivet 15 Year Old, a distinctively rich and golden expression with traces of sweet almond and spice. The perfect match for Amaretto.
The cocktail history of The Godfather
Two guesses where this cocktail gets its name. Appearing in bar menus since the 1970s, the simple yet sophisticated serve is named after the Oscar-winning film ‘The Godfather’. Perhaps the reason being it was Marlon Brando’s favourite drink. Like the movie, it’s punchy, classic and tastes best when it’s cold.
