Frequently Asked Questions
What is The Glenlivet Gathering?
The Glenlivet Gathering is a three-day excursion into the heart of Speyside, the source of The Glenlivet - for a 'behind the curtain' peek into the world of whisky. The perfect weekend trip for a group of friends, or as a Father's Day gift for the man who introduced you to your first dram, The Glenlivet will host 150 Society members to enjoy the stunning beauty of its estate and bask in Scottish Hospitality. Highlights of this memorable journey to Scotland will include a wide range of experiences in the magnificent Scottish Highlands, courtesy of The Glenlivet.
When is The Glenlivet Gathering?
Friday, July 11 - Sunday, July 13, 2008.
What is the registration deadline?
Applications to register must be submitted by May 31, 2008. The Glenlivet Gathering will be made available to the first 150 Scotch enthusiasts (at least 21-years of age) who register by booking their flight. Once the spots are filled, no more entries will be accepted.
How do I reserve a space on The Glenlivet Gathering?
If you are interested in participating, please contact thegathering@ttc-pr.com. The Thomas Collective, The Glenlivet’s PR Agency in charge of planning and organizing the trip, will offer assistance in booking travel details. Once your flight and hotel reservation is booked, you are confirmed.
Do I have to book my flight through our travel partner?
You do not have to book your flight through our travel agent, this is simply a convenience provided by The Glenlivet. If you make your own flight arrangements, you must provide your arriving/departing flight numbers and arrival times to thegathering@ttc-pr.com to reserve your spot.
Where do I stay while on this trip?
Due to transportation requirements, all guests are required to stay at the Aviemore Highland Resort to ensure a smooth and timely experience in Scotland. Accommodations must be booked through The Glenlivet’s travel agent, who has access to the group discount rate. Please contact thegathering@ttc-pr.com for more details.
What airport in Scotland should I fly in to?
The closest airports to The Aviemore Highland Resort are the Edinburgh Airport and the Aberdeen Airport.
Will The Glenlivet provide transportation from the airport to the Aviemore Highland Resort?
The Glenlivet will provide a transfer between the airports and the hotel at one time, so guests can elect to use the bus service or arrive on their own. Departure time TBD.
What am I responsible for financially?
Guests are responsible for airfare and accommodations, but once they make their way to Speyside, all tours, meals, classes and outings included in the itinerary are courtesy of The Glenlivet. Free time activities, such as golf and shopping, are not included.
What is the weather in Scotland like in July?
While we are hoping for a sunny trip, the weather in Scotland can be unpredictable and often damp. Please be sure to pack a variety of clothing - just I case we experience a variety of weather. The average temperature for July is 58 degrees Fahrenheit, so please pack accordingly.
What is the dress code for The Glenlivet Gathering?
The attire for the trip is casual. However, please note that jeans and t-shirts will not be permitted on The Spey Valley Championship Golf Course should you choose to play in your free time. The Ceilidh (or party) on the evening of July 12th is an opportunity to dress up, and the perfect time for the men to don their kilts. In addition, guests that wish to participate in the Smuggler's Trail hike should bring solid, comfortable hiking boots. We recommend you bring:
- Both short and long-sleeve shirts
- A sweatshirt or sweater
- A light jacket
- Solid, comfortable hiking boots
- An umbrella
- Men: A white dress shirt or button down (to be worn with a kilt!)
- Women: A white dress shirt (to be worn with a sash!); black pants or skirt
Please contact us and your questions will be answered promptly.
