With activities ranging from trout fishing and golfing on Scotland's newest links to shopping for the finest cashmere sweater, The Glenlivet has ensured that guests will have plenty of exciting activities to choose from during their free time. Please note that these activities are not part of the inclusive Gathering itinerary.
The Aviemore Highland Resort
Rooms have been reserved at the Aviemore Highland Resort on behalf of guests attending The Gathering. This beautiful contemporary hotel is situated at the foot of the Cairngorm Mountains and nestled amidst the ancient Caledonian pine forest, just a stone's throw from the Aviemore Train Station. The Spey Valley Championship Golf Course
Guests that choose to play a round of golf in their free time will be among the first in the world to play on what is anticipated to be one of Scotland's leading golf venues. Nestled against the dramatic scenery of the Cairngorms, this beautifully landscaped and challenging 18-hole course will be overseen by Bob Mackay, former keeper of Royal Dornoch, one of the top twenty golf courses in the world. Guests will be offered a special group discount courtesy of The Glenlivet.
Biking
Home to one of the best mountain biking destinations in the world, guests have the opportunity to explore Aviemore's magnificent wilderness - from stunning inlet glens and gentle forests to off-road epic adventures into the mountains. Delivered directly to the hotel, all rented bikes come complete with helmets, repair kits, route maps and rucksacks.
Fishing
Scotland has over six thousand lochs (lakes), ranging from small hill lochs to some of the largest freshwater bodies in the UK, with fishing for salmon, sea trout, arctic char, ferrox trout, brown trout, grayling, pike, perch and chubb. The Scottish Highlands, where guests will be staying, have a wealth of excellent salmon and trout rivers, perfect for an early morning expedition.
G2 - Specialized Outdoor Activities
Led by a highly qualified and experienced team, adventure seekers can participate in high impact activities such as canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing and gorge walking - which is an exciting mix of rock scrambling and white water fun with plunge pools, rock slides and water shoots.
Shopping
Set against the scenic backdrop of the Highlands, Scotland's newest luxury shop is situated at the heart of The Aviemore Highland Resort. Guests can peruse through an array of outdoor sporting goods, clothing, and a selection of fine Scottish foods and delicacies. The town of Aviemore also offers plenty of shopping opportunities, many in recently renovated shops, specializing in everything from skiing equipment to wool sweaters and tartan souvenirs.
